We all know Hermione is a very talented witch who can easily learn how
to do a spell correctly in just a few minutes. She probably knows many
spells far beyond anyone her age because she is willing to learn them.
When she came up with the idea for the DA, she asked Harry to teach
and not herself. She also wanted to be a student so Harry can teach
her these spells. But why did she want to learn from Harry when she
could easily learn how to do these spells and cast them? Well, she
wanted to be prepared when it came a time to defend herself against
Voldemort and who best to teach her than the one who escaped him
multiple times.

It is like what Harry said; you just don't memorize a bunch of spells
and throw them at the enemy. You have to be quick and throw the right
spell at the right time or you can be in worse trouble than before.
Hermione can memorize these spells and do them, but will that be
enough against an enemy? No. And she knows this. Hermione had to learn
not to panic in this type of situation and be quick.

Now, Harry didn't teach her or any of them how to duel or what it was
like to be up against an enemy because he had to teach them the basic
spells first. They can't go and duel against each other without
knowing some defense spells. If the DA hadn't been stopped by
Umbridge, then I think Harry may have the chance to teach them how to
duel.
