Even if dumbledore does die (i know its icky but it'll
definitely happen, JK needs to show harry develop,
take on he who must not be named by himself and
generally be the ultimate goodguy) he presumably will
live on like the other ex head masters by paintings.
Dumbledore is important enough within the wizarding
world to have been painted, at the very least in
hogwarts.
Sure in an earlier book, someone said fudge wanted
dumbledore to be minister for magic and was always
running to him for advice. As well as being he only
person he who must not be named ever feared.
