 Okay, Geoff, since you brought up her many unattractive qualities, 
and since I can't remember reading this (things have slowed down but 
not that much) tell me what to make of Harry's scar hurting and his 
stomach doing that funny turn when Umbridge took his hand in 
detentions. The evil smile she gave him was to be expected but it 
went nicely with the other two (she seemed to have a distinct LV 
effect upon the boy). I am rereading and I confess, I read so quickly 
that I can't remember if there was ever anything made of this beyond 
Sirius's appearance in the fire, which pretty much was a "don't worry 
about it" kind of talk.
I think this is one of the major ways JKR both gives you a huge clue 
and then throws you off the trail. Face it, the adults in Harry's 
life haven't been all that hot at understanding the big things when 
they come around. So, please, if someone knows a post where this was 
discussed, analyzed, torn apart and put back together, tell me.
