I'm thinking about the old concept of the Pendragon -- the heir to King Arthur in subsequent ages. Suppose Dumbledore is something similar (some people have posited he is the heir to Godric Gryffindor). Suppose when he dies, some power that he has passes to his heir -- in this case, to Harry. This would give him the power to fight LV.
