OK, please forgive me because I have since deleted both of the posts
that I am going to mention, so if I get it slightly wrong, please
forgive me. There has been a lot of discussion about ghosts, mainly
about Binns. I read a post, not that long ago actually, that stated
that maybe Binns was murdered by Voldemort using AK. Because of this he
has returned until his killer is caught and eliminated. I liked this
theory and am going to base my next statement. I just read another post
that said basically since Cedric was happy he probably won't return as a
ghost. To be honest, I hadn't really given much thought to Cedric
becoming a ghost until this post, but I've been sitting here thinking
about it, and I'm not sure I agree. Say it is true that Binns came back
because he was murdered and his murder hasn't been avenged. If that's
the case then couldn't Cedric come back for exactly the same reason.
Maybe souls can't "rest in peace" if they've been murdered if no one has
paid for the
crime. On that assumption, maybe Cedric could return long enough to
help HRH defeat Voldemort and then go on. Just a thought. What does
everyone else think?

The only problem with this theory is that Binns was not murdered. . . .
"Professor Binns had been very old indeed when he had fallen asleep in
front of the staffroom fire and got up the next morning to teach,
leaving his body behind him." (PS - UK Adult paperback version, p. 99)
