I wrote (among other things):
So, following this reasoning, wouldn't Sirius *have* to be in Gryffindor since he knew how to get into Gryffindor Tower?

I'm now adding a bit more.

~giggles~ I can't believe I came up with my very own theory to love and hug and call George, and I didn't think it all the way through.

The theory actually has a useful connotation I didn't even see. If, as I said, Sirius *was* in Gryffindor, then Hagrid's statement about every bad witch and wizard coming from Slytherin would *have* to be false, as in PS Sirius Black was still an Azkaban-bound murderer. Now I realise most of us had decided that this was probably the case, but I like this, it backs it up. And Lord knows how we HP fans like to have canon to back up our arguments.

The Arizona Talisman also said:
Maybe I am wrong, but I thought it was explicitly stated that James was
also a Gryffindor seeker during his time at the school.

I cry:
Gah! Movie contamination at ten paces!! ~sprays Talisman with a big bottle of Mrs Scower's Magical MovieMess Remover~

James Potter was a Gryffindor Seeker in TMTMNBN. In canon, he was a Chaser, but almost certainly in Gryffindor (not definitely, but 90% sure as JKR good as confirmed he was on the Gryff team in the same interview she confirmed he was a Chaser).
