"talking about" something can mean a long discourse or a passing mention.  I 
can easily see a teacher saying something like, "Today we are going to be 
brewing a simple disguise potion.  There are many such potions of various efficacy 
and duration, chief among which is the Polyjuice Potion.  But that potion is 
beyond the skills of a second-year student, so we will turn instead to the 
simpler ones.  Specifically, today we will be brewing a hair-dye potion, which 
will change a person's hair color ....." etc., etc.

Wow... now that I've actually typed that, I'm tempted to fanfic the entire 
class, with suitable interruptions by and for HRH, Draco and Neville.  "Perhaps 
you will now finally be able to turn that rat of yours yellow, Mr. Weasley," 
Snape sneered.....
