Is it also possible that the map shows the person using the map plus
anyone "on the move" or nearby? For instance, it might not bother
showing Scabbers/Pettigrew while he's sleeping (which he seems to be
doing most of the time), or other students who are just sitting
around, playing a game or reading if they aren't near the map holder
because they pose no threat to the person holding the map. It could
just show those in motion (Dumbledore pacing in his office, Pettigrew
running away from R/H/H across the grounds, etc. because the map
holder could run across them in his/her travels.

Any thoughts?

PS: On a personal note, I for one think that the sailors in the
middle of the Persian Gulf, and all armed forces over seas, deserve
to get advance mailings of OOP if possible. I'm sorry that no one in
charge of publishing thought of this ahead of time. Thank you for
being there for us!! I hope your copy of OOP arrives asap!
