Rhianyn sets a tidy black paw 'pon her book to hold her place (pg 150 of SS,
paperback):
"Harry told the turban he didn't want to be in Slytherin; it got heavier and
heavier, he tried to pull it off but it tightened painfully -- and there was
Malfoy, laughing at him as he struggled with it -- then Malfoy turned into the
hook-nosed teacher, Snape, whose laugh became high and cold -- there was a
burst of green light and Harry woke, sweating and shaking."
Apols if this has been discussed to death before. But doesn't it seem odd
that after his very glimpse of Snape Harry should dream of him connected with
the green light that is his last "memory" of his parents and (presumably) their
death.
Could Snape have killed James and Lily with Voldemorte's wand? Or,
conversely, could he have been there and tried a counter curse that managed to deflect
Voldies curse enough that Harry was saved but Lily was not? Could that be the
seat of his apparent hatred of Harry, that his heroic efforts were "wasted"
on him instead of on Lily (this of course, pre-supposes the theory that Snape
had feelings for Lily).
