Ginny/Harry/Cho - a long way to go...

I recently went online to find out what "cho chang" means in the
asian languages. here's what i found:

"cho-cho" means butterfly in Japanese (I have this on authority - my
friend from Tokyo told me) I believe that it also means butterfly in
Chinese, although they just say "cho"

"chang" means free or freely (got that online, from what seemed like
a reliable site - sorry if it's wrong)

So, assuming that my information isn't bunk, Cho Chang's name
means "free butterly." Fits her nicely, as she is a Quidditch player
and a seemingly good seeker too ("fluttering around freely on her
broomstick). Plus, butterflies are pretty to look at, as is Cho (at
least, in Harry's opinion). However, her name doesn't give us much
else to go on if we're hoping to form some predictions about what
will happen with her. Some other names in the book can be linked to
historical (Ginny/Virginia/Elizabeth I), legendary (Penelope/Greek
mythology), and literary (Hermione/Shakespeare) characters. Because
of the analogies that can be drawn, it is easier to speculate what
could happen to them.

Ever since reading the books for the first time, I have never been
much of a Harry/Cho shipper, only because Cho's character is still
not developed. As much as we would all like to see Harry end up with
his crush, I think it would be unsatisfying (at least for me), and
definitely from a literary standpoint, for Harry to end up with an
underdeveloped character we have not come to fully appreciate yet.
That said, I am sure that Cho's character will be a lot more
developed in the next three books if JKR has plans for her and
Harry. I believe the same goes for Ginny - lots of potential there,
but we need to know Ginny a lot better, she needs to come out of her
shell sooner or later if we are to embrace a Harry/Ginny outcome.

In most great literature, the hero (Harry) ends up with a really
great heroine, if he ends up with one at all. Hermione is the only
well developed young female at this point. So far, she seems to be
the only one most deserving of our hero's affections. But there is
clearly something going on there w/ Ron & Hermione, so I can't really
allow myself to be a Harry/Hermione shipper, even though it's what I
find myself leaning towards for lack of a better candidate for Harry
so far. Whatever JKR has in store, in terms of "young love," I think
we can be sure that if Harry gets a girl, she'll have some substance
to her & we'll really feel like we know & like her (ie: Hermione).

I really would like to see Ginny or Cho's personality emerge in the
next books. If Harry is suppose to "end up" with someone, she will
have to be a well developed character, and indeed, someone of strong
character. Anyone else have similar thoughts?
