*** Evil grin indeed. Luring more to the Dark Side? Hehe. Just kidding. We
all have our reasons for believing what we do. As a lowly deckhand, I dare
not challenge a ship captain. But I will say a couple things about the issues
addressed in this thread.

My turn:
We *know* Ginny will have a bigger role in OotP. What form this will take
(friend, girlfriend, heroine, etc), we don't know. But if she's to play a bigger "on
screen" role (as opposed to her mostly "off-screen" involvement in the plot of
CoS), then I think it is safe to say we'll be learning much more about her in
Book Five. IMO, Ginny will be a major player the rest of the way.

As far as Cho is concerned, I'm not convinced there is much chance for her
and Harry. How can they not be reminded of Cedric in the presence of one
another? I would be shocked if they could put him behind them enough to
have a meaningful relationship. Her involvement might increase, but I don't
see her becoming much more than she already is--a secondary character
serving as a potential love interest for Harry. Maybe she and Harry will date
for awhile, but I don't get the impression that Cho will grow into a major role in
the rest of the series.

Don't you realize that the girl you're describing: a "great heroine" who has
"made sacrifices" is none other than our beloved Hermione? As others have
commented, Hermione really is the only female character who yet fits the bill
of being a strong and developed enough character of the right age to pair off
with Harry (IMO).

My turn:
Up to this point in canon, Hermione is the only female I would dub a herione.
She is also clearly the most fully developed female character... so far. I would
agree that the woman Harry ends up with will be someone he (and thus we)
know quite well and who is no stranger to struggle and sacrifice. But before
we start sending out Harry and Hermione wedding invitations, we must
remember that we've got three books left. Just because Hermione is more
fully developed than all of his female peers *at this point* doesn't mean we
have to automatically pair her off with the Harry. There is ample time for other
possibilities to fully develop. There are many battles ahead. Another heroine
(or more) could emerge.

Penny:
I guess we might have more fodder one way or another in 4 days time!

Me:
Admittedly, I'm a fan of H/G, but what do you expect from a red-head with
freckles? I want *my* girl to get the guy. :)

In just a few days, we will indeed have more "fodder one way or another."
The great thing is that no matter what happens in OotP, the debate won't end.
Evidence for my ship in OotP would be great, but I'd much rather be ahead at
the finish line. We'll have to wait and see. Of course, we don't know when
that wait will be over. Book Seven won't be out for years. Until then, the war
will rage on. Oh what fun. :)
