Ah, but of course, Hermione and Ron are destined to be together. <g>

At the moment, she IS the most developed female character close to 
Harry's age but since she and Ron will be a couple, that means that 
Harry will end up (quite happily) with Ginny. :)

And actually, while Ginny hasn't been well developed so far, I'm sure 
her experiences in the Chamber of Secrets should mean something. She 
and Harry both suffered because of what Tom Riddle/Voldemort did in a 
way that Hermione and Ron never have (so far). This could create a 
bond between them.

Ginny did seem to be more mature in GoF than in PoA and CoS. CoS 
Ginny would've dumped Neville to go to the ball with Harry but GoF 
Ginny keeps her promise. :)
