I have to disagree-- I think Ron will have to bite the bullet. Why?
My theory is that SS, the first book that jumped around from scene to scene
and from one tone to the next was not just the first book, not just an
introduction, but a template for the way the entire septology will follow. At the
end Ron and Herm help Harry on his way to defeat Voldie/Quirrell but Ron
offers a generous sacrifice as the knight on the chessboard and bravely
declares that Harry must go on.
Ron has a bit of an inferiority complex and all that but by being a willingly
sacrafice, an altruistic martyr, he can make a name for himself.
My bet is that Ron will not survive book 7. That is my humble 2 knuts worth.
