>>The only logical reason is that the *Lupin* we know is not the real Remus
Lupin. This is not my theory, and can be found in an <analysis> style book
available in most bookstores (I believe it is something like < The Magical
Mysteries of Harry Potter>). The most logical conclusion is that James
Potter and Remus Lupin were *switched* by Lily using a oft-referred to but
never explained *Switching Spell* as further protection for James against
Voldemort. Now that the real Lupin is dead (he died as James Potter), James
is trapped in Lupin's werewolf morphing body. He wants to have contact with
Harry and
protect him, but knows, especially with Voldemort's return to power and
attempts at Harry's life, he must remain very cautious......<<

***Koticzka's comment:
As some logical reasoning is present here, I can't waste the opportunity for
humor possible in considering other characters' switching... Trelawney and
Neville perhaps? Afterwards some other character might be hit with the
Fourth Unforgivable causing a crash on Trelawney herself... ;)

But yes, very interesting idea. It would also imply that Lily or / and James
WERE in Slytherin (who else could think of such a trick!) and Lupin with his
readiness to sacrifice could be nothing but Gryffindor... Sirius does match
Slytherin, too (Peter Pettigrew's predecessor).

One correction from Koticzka: James!Lupin might not have known where Harry
was due to the Fidelius Charm (another readers' theory, but a strong one).

Chuck:
>>But, in this case, there is no permanence. He lost him again. Why can't
he regain him again? Dead should be dead (not ghost dead that is).<<

***Koticzka's comment:
I do not know why exactly I would expect something so impossible (I know,
gradations...) This is much more unlikely than the twist in PoA. Much more
unlikely than what happened in GoF. Something against the
words of omniscient Dumbledore.

How can you hurt a man who has nothing?
Give him something broken.
