Brooke has summed up my feelings exactly.  When I first heard about the 
potential Ron/Hermione pairing, my whole being screamed "no, that's wrong!" 
- because (a) Ron is not the hero of this tale, and (b) it's a principle of 
literature that the hero has to get the girl!  Therefore, I assumed that 
Harry and Hermione would "get together" because, as Brooke mentions, 
Hermione is the only well-developed young female character so far.  I see 
Ginny as too young for Harry, and Cho as being a "crush from afar" ... but I 
predict that one day, Harry is going to wake up and take a new look at his 
gal pal in the pleated skirt.

If Hermione does end up with Ron, I can see her doing a major redecorating 
job on the Burrow.  "Swish and flick!"
