The Unpopular Second Book

The opinion of most Potheads (my brother's name for HP fans)is that 
the Chamber of Secrets is the worst of the series (so far). Why is 
this. I think for several reasons. One, the book has three very 
annoying characters (Lockhart, Dobby, and Colin) that slow down the 
plot. Second, the whole thing with Nearly-Headless Nick and his 
deathday party adds to the sluggishness and was totally unessential 
to the plot. Third, the prolonged scenes with Moaning Myrtle were yet 
another hinderence to the plot. Nevertheless, it is still a good 
book, as are all the HP books. Some are just better than others.
