Huh?  What?  Where?  Hermione is very bookish and very gifted when it comes 
to magic.  To me that makes her a shoo-in for Prefect, and probably Best Girl, 
but how on earth do you get Animagus out of that?  In fact, Hermione's one 
experience with animal transformations (with the Polyjuice potion in CoS) was so 
traumatic that I can't imagine her wanting to repeat the process.

Her worship of McGonagall (to me merely an extension of her extreme deference 
to authority) would IMHO lead her towards teaching and eventually 
Headmistress, but I just don't see any support for her even wanting to become an animagus 
(even assuming it's something you can "become" rather than something you are 
born into).
