Sir,
I would like to draw the following to your attention.
Some time ago I was sold an item of lingerie advertised as a Rookwood Thong.
This item was sold to me by a Madam C. Sphinx who at that time was operating
from a booth on the sea front of Theory Bay. It was sold to me on the basis of
the theory that Augustus Rookwood is Ever So Sexy (please see post# 46935
for details), a theory strongly supported by Madam Sphinx's two accomplices,
Mistress Eileen Lucky Kari, the well-known expert on Death Eaters and Madam
Porphyria Ashenden whose interior design expertise, evidenced by the quality of her
work here at the Castle, led me to think that she was a woman of taste who
knew what she was talking about.
Part of the argument for the sexiness of the said Rookwood concerned his
distinguished name. But now I see in a report in the Daily Prophet (reproduced in
Chapter 25 of Ms Rowling's latest publication) that this same Rookwood, late
of the Department of Mysteries at the Ministry of Magic is not called Augustus
at all, but *Algernon*!
Whilst Algernon is arguably a distinguished name, I would venture to suggest
that it is Not Sexy In The Slightest and that therefore the said item of
lingerie may have been sold to me under false pretences.
Or perhaps this an example of the lamentable lack of accuracy in reporting
which seems to characterise the Daily Prophet? Have they confused Mr Rookwood
with someone else? Perhaps the herpetophile uncle of that unfortunate Longbottom
boy? Surely there were not *two* Rookwoods in the Department of Mysteries,
both passing ministry secrets to He Who Must Not Be Named? Are the Longbottoms,
that distinguished pure blood family actually related to a known Death Eater?
Or is this anomaly in fact a FLINT, plain and simple?
I should be grateful for your attention in this matter.
Yours faithfully,
Eloise Herisson
