a big shock to me.

I think it was a reflex, Harry really didn't want to cause pain, but
all the anger with his parents, and then Sirius, built up and he
wanted someone else to feel his pain.

Maybe a politcal statement???? Just a thought, all kinds of books
(Wizard of Oz first comes to my mind) make a subliminal statement
about the current state of the world. Maybe commenting on how the
higher ups tend to care more about the power and image than their
constiuants. Just the first thought that comes to mind.

Love Hagrid, great guy, but he just doesn't have the whole teaching
thing down. Some are born with the ability to teach and others
aren't. Hagrid isn't good at teaching classroom lessons, but great
at teaching some life lessons. He will always be a "teacher."

I think the scene with James was more to show Harry that his father
was not perfect, not to make him hate his father. Yes, James was a
jerk back then but he grew up and realised his flaws, just like Harry
has to realise that he has flaws.

Just some quick thoughts, tell me what you think
