What do you suppose will happen to Sirius' house and effects now that
he's gone? Will he have left his belongings to his godson Harry? Will
the OotP still be able to use it as their HQ?
And, I was so sad to see that he was the one to die, but you
know . . . once we saw where he "was" in this book--trapped in that
dreadful house with that insane little elf, unable to safely leave
now that everyone knew he was an animagus . . . he WAS feeling
reckless, I think he WAS a little confused about Harry, I think his
time in Azkaban and being stuck in his awful childhood home with his
mother's portrait screaming . . . I think the stir-craziness
certainly didn't help his state of mind. I think there were only two
choices for his character, now that he was left without possible
moves in the "game"--either (sadly) kill him and give Harry one more
burden in his young life or somehow convince the entire wizarding
world that he was innocent and not dangerous. I'm not sure he was
entirely "not dangerous" anymore--he was getting too reckless for
that--and while I don't think he would have deliberately hurt
someone, he was either going to get himself killed or he was going to
get someone ELSE killed and I think the guilt would have pushed what
was left of his good sanity over the edge. I think the chance of his
being able to really "heal" to live a normal life with his godson was
pretty slim with the risky state of the wizarding world, fighting a
two-front war with both Voldemort AND the Ministry. I'm glad for his
sake that he was able to go out actually DOING something.
