I totally agree (both with you and with JK Rowling, which is one of 
the reasons why I love her and the Harry Potter books).  She's 
presenting a very interesting philosophy on life: that fate exists 
to a certain extent and that in the end, the future is shaped by 
one's decisions and actions.  Very fascinating.
