Now Me: As I was reading the ever-growing list of posts, the same type of thought occurred to me, but "AND THE DARK LORD WILL MARK HIM AS HIS EQUAL". So once again, it is our choices that control our destinies. LV chose to regard Harry as his equal, not Neville. 

However:
The whole prophecy is vague, perhaps BOTH Neville and Harry are mentioned in the prophecy at different times? "BORN TO THOSE WHO HAVE THRICE DEFIED HIM, BORN AS THE SEVENTH MONTH DIES" does not say "ONE BORN" just "BORN"  Or am I misinterpreting the "...." s??
