That is true.  We never have been told that he was Slytherin.  I 
think we assume this...but he is head of Slytherin House.  We do know 
that McGonigall was a Gryff.  We asume that Flitwick was a Ravenclaw, 
and we assume that Sprout was a Hufflepuff.  I think it is safe to 
say that he was Slytherin.  But with JKR who knows.  Many of my 
thoughts have been blown out of the water with this book.  Not 
all...but most!  LOL.  

Though...I do have to say that I'm really glad one of the popular 
theories is put to bed---I hope.  I won't go there right now.  LOL>
