But DD says (not an exact quote): "You only need to once a year to a
place where Lilys blood is to be safe". He refers to it as being a
form of ancient magic. So I gather it is a lot more then just a safe
haven.
It also says in the book that Aunt Petunia has been responsible for
keeping Harry alive for the past 15 years.
About Harry's 7th year. When he returns to Hogwarts that year, he
will not intend to go back to the Dursleys (or a place where Lily's
blood is) so the ancient magic should no longer work.
I don't know, but I assume this will become more important as we go
along.
