That doesn't stack up for me.  Cho was interested in Harry at a time 
when he was decidedly unpopular, and she seems uninterested in 
status generally.

Do you mean 'characterised as an unlikeable person' or that you 
disliked JKR's characterisation - ie Cho is inconsistently or 
implausibly portrayed as a fictional character?  I found her quite 
plausible myself.

I'd say that the OOP characterisation drives home what many fans 
predicted: that Cedric would hang too heavily over them for a 
relationship to succeed, at least for the time being.
