Maybe its my own personal grief that is keeping me from believing
that Harry and Sirius are never to communicate again, but I think JKR
has left two big possibilities for Harry to keep in touch with Sirius
in times of peril in 6 and 7.

1 - the mirror - this has been mentioned on previous posts, but I
just can't believe that it was given to Harry with no possible use in
the future. When Harry saw Sirius being tortured by LV, I was almost
to the point of screaming at the book for Harry to go and get the
mirror and see if it was true or if LV was manipulating his mind.

2 - the archway at the dais that Sirius was "pulled into?". The way
JKR described this room at the MoM was "dimly lit and rectangular,
and the center of it was sunken, forming a great stone pit some
twenty feet below them. ... what seemed to be stone benches running
all around the room and descending in steep steps like an
amphitheater ... a raised stone dais in the center of the lowered
floor, and upon this dais stood a stone archway that looked so
ancient, cracked, and crumbling that Harry was amazed the thing was
still standing."

I got the impression it was an ancient place of gathering - perhaps
sacrifice when Harry heared the voices coming from behind the veil.
Then when the Order arrived to help DA, I thought this place could
have been an ancient dueling (somewhat "gladiatorish" :) place. When
Bellatrix and Sirius were dueling I was reading so fast that when it
became obvious that Sirius was gone I went back and reread - (theres
the denial coming out again). Sirius was hit by Bellatrix's curse
square in the chest - "his body curved in a graceful arc as he sank
backward through the ragged veil hanging from the arch." (p. 806)
Lestrange obviously knew what Sirius disappearing behind the veil
meant because she let out a "triumphant scream". (p. 806)

To get to the point - Harry heard voices when he found the archway -
maybe he will be able to communicate with Sirius at this place at a
future time. It's significance will have to come out because JKR put
a lot of description of its appearance and entitled a chapter "Beyond
the Veil". It has to be important later on.

Anyways - happy rereading

Mournfully,
Epona
