Seems to me I remember "wotcha" or "wotcher" as being (Cockney?) 
slang for "Wotcher doin'?" or what-are-you-doing?  Don't ask me where 
I picked that bit of trivia up from . . . probably the same place 
they explained the title of the Led Zep song "Dyer Maker" as being 
borrowed from a threadbare Cockney joke.
