I've been reading through some of the postings (no time for them
all!). And I've got an idea about the prophecy and the end of "Lord-
Thingy." I *love* that line!
The prophecy states that ". . .Neither can live while the other
survives . . ."
Maybe, just maybe, Harry doesn't necessarily have to kill Voldemort
to fulfill the prophecy. Stay with me.
Survival has many forms. You can "survive" the Dementor's Kiss, but
without your soul (where is Crouch Jr. now?). You can survive
emotionally. And Voldemort seems to be not quite "living" in the
usual sense.
The prophecy *does not* say that death is the only solution. We've
seen how events can change if you re-enter into the past. Is it just
possible that Harry can/must alter a timeline in order to "regress"
Voldemort to Tom Riddle and give him another chance at making the
right choices? The choices that make him someone other than
Voldemort? As Tom Riddle, he's not Voldemort, so Voldemort does not
survive, but Tom does.
I'm not suggesting a "redemption," so much as I'm suggesting a
possible "second time around." Fixing Voldemort as he is now is
clearly impossible.
If Voldemort is regressed to being Tom Riddle again, his
circumstances would be different, i.e., there's a chance for him to
be raised in a loving home that makes it possible for him to
undestand love, and could it be that he could become the Tom Riddle
he could have been.
Okay, I'm rambling. But I think it's possible. And, when Dumbledore
was fighting him, he (DD) clearly said that death is not the worst.
Personally, I agree with DD, but where does that leave us with
Voldie? Furthermore, DD addressed Voldemort as "Tom," as if he were
speaking to the man inside the monster.
We're going to have fun for a long time!
