SPOILER BELOW
Subject: Old characters, was Re: Re: New characters
Ron seems to get a taste of "having is not always as
good as
wanting".
He gets quite a few things he's wished for, but finds
out
that it doesn't automatically make everything better.
He has to work for it!
But mostly, he seems relegated to the background at
lot.
I hope this isn't a tendency that continues in the
last two
books.
Maybe it's because Harry was so angry and self
absorbed in
OoP, and didn't notice as much about the people around
him
as he usually does.
I truly wish HP wasn't limited to such a narrow POV
more and
more.
I wanted to see what Hermione and Ron were doing when
they
weren't with Harry, and would have been happy to find
out
about Hagrid's mission, for example...
I thought Ron was finnally getting his due. He came
out from Harry's shadow and achieved something totally
on his own. No one could say the last win was due to
Harry they were all singing Ron's praise. It seemed to
be his finest hour. (Now why wasn't Ginny the hero?
She after all beat Cho to the snitch.)
I also got the distinct impression from the book that
Harry aced the important OWLS. It looked as though
without Snape browbeating he and Nevile they came
through potions with flying colors
Now. Does anyone really see redeeming characteristics
in that Hitler Youth leader Draco? If he isn't fully
aware of his father's actions and in full support I'll
eat my book. Plus I don't see him as being anywhere in
Harry's league with magic. I may be wrong but that
scene with Draco going for his wand and Harry
nonchalantly drawing and pausing to reflect on the
best choice of hexes to use says tons to me.
