I think it mentioned once, in passing, that Lupin was living in the 
house with Sirius.  My mom is currently reading my book, so I can't 
verify that, but I'm sure it was there (I'm a fan of S/R so I was 
looking for any hints of closeness ;)).

Even if Remus had another house somewhere, that's what...one more 
place he could have gone?  He's still basically cooped up no matter 
where he goes.  Even if he goes for a stroll with polyjuice potion, 
it's only for an hour and he can't be himself.  He's not free to be 
himself anyplace other than his own house, so it started driving him 
a little mad.
