OOP: Hermione OOC

It really struck me as very Out of Character for Hermione at the 
beginning of Chapter 27 when she slams centaurs:

Hermione: "I've never really liked horses" 
Lavendar: "He's a centaur" 
Hermione: "Either way he has four legs..."

Then when she meets them in the forest she get off on the wrong hoof 
with them right away. I was shocked at her attitude when usually she 
is very open minded about other creatures (werewolves, house elves) 
is it because she is so close minded about divination?
