understand why Lily would call James "Potter" if she really thought he was

Now me (Wendy):
 
Well, we can surmise that James already had a "thing" for Lily (based on
the doodled L.E. on his paper), so I'm guessing that he calls her Evans as
a way of covering up his feelings for her - acting like he really doesn't
like her so she won't guess his true feelings. Sounds sort of stupid, but
normal teenage behavior, no?
