Back in April, I stated:

"But Petunia must take
a greater role in VWII, since she and Dudley share Lily's
enchanted blood along with Harry."

Despite all our dearly-held concepts that family-by-choice is
just as strong a bond as family-by-birth, the fact still
remains that blood matters in magic of this kind.  Even if the bad guys
manage to do in Aunt Petunia, there is still ickle Duddykins.
