My biggest question which I haven't seen anyone ask yet is this.  Why 
did Voldemort start with the Potters?  Did the Longbottoms have a 
better secret keeper?  Did they have Neville staying with someone 
else and that's why they were tortured because they were his secret 
keepers?  Why did LV go after the Potters instead of going after the 
Longbottoms?

Was it convenience or were the Potters the bigger risk?  There must 
have been a reason he "chose" Harry.  

He chose his adversary rather than allowing the adversary to chose 
him.  Also, TR & HP are very alike.  That message was sent home in 
CoS.  (Now understanding JKR's proclaim that CoS is a very important 
book.)
