Melinda:
I think you might be half right. I don't think it will be in book 6. DD
didn't make Harry a prefect cuz he's already got too much on his plate,
never mind a teacher.
However, didn't JKR say that one the students would come back as a teacher
after school is over? Makes sense to me that Harry will be the final DADA
teacher who actually stays (and probably eventually becomes Headmaster).
He's said Hogwarts has always been his only home. I absolutely, under no
circumstances, believe Harry will die at the end of this. This is good vs.
evil and I just don't see JKR killing her hero and doing that to the
millions of kids who follow this. Just don't see it. I do think he'll end
up at Hogwarts as the DADA teacher who actually keeps teaching!
Me:
Yeah, JKR said one of the students would become a teacher, but she said it was someone you wouldn't expect, which, IMO, rules out the Trio. (My money, personally, is on Neville.)
But in a good vs. evil, sacrifice for the greater good is a wonderful and powerful message. JKR's not checking everything she writes thinking, "Will this be okay for the kids?" I don't think her younger audience is changing what she wants her plot to be. I personally really like the idea of Harry dying at the end because, in a way, his life revoles around Voldemort. It's what he lives for. It's his ability and responsibility alone. This is also the reason I support no SHIP for Harry, and actually adore Alone!Harry. He just can't dedicate himself to a real relatioship. He has the world to think about.
