One line at the beginning of the book made me really think that it was
going to be Sirius...
" The other's hushed voices were giving Harry an odd feeling of
foreboding; it was as though they had just entered the house of a
dying person. "
And it is Sirius's house!
JKR uses the same tactics in every book. For example, in Philosopher's
Stone she describes Hagrid as being "a giant of a man", and later, in
Goblet of Fire, we find out that Hagrid is a half-giant.
