Is MemoryCharmed!Neville still possible after OoP? (with a nod to Fourth Man)

Not entirely sure if I've got the authority to start this kind of
posting, but here we go anyway, plunging bravely in...

MemoryCharmed!Neville, in any of his incarnations, was the one thing
I was betting on absolutely for OoP. And...nada. I know there has
been nothing in OoP that directly contradicts any of the aspects of
this theory, we even get the usual "Neville Longbottom, a round-
faced, forgetful boy" at Platform 9 3/4s, plus another namecheck for
the Rememberall when Neville whips out his cactus (oh dear. A small
part of my brain just sniggered at that. "Look, Harry

Uranus...heeheehee...") - although the whole point of that was
apparently just to inform us that he'd just had a birthday. He's
*still* forgetful. We *know* he's still forgetful – but he finally
begins to become a fleshed-out character in this book. We're shown
many other aspects to his personality. His forgetfulness doesn't
even play a very important part in the story, or in any subplots, as
there is apparently only one password for the whole term this year.

However, we have also been introduced to Bellatrix and to Neville's
parents. At first read, I was half convinced that his comment "I
know you hab!" when Bella teased him about having met his parents
had blown the whole thing out of the water, but then I remembered
that she'd been on the front page of the Daily Prophet with her
crime underneath, even though we'd never been shown Neville reacting
to it.

But Neville *knows* about his parents, we've seen that. He's also
come face to face with the person who appears to have been in charge
of it all, and there weren't any significant twinges - certainly
nothing which could be pointed out and prodded at like his reaction
to tea with Crouch!Moody.

Where I suppose I'm going with all these points is towards the
question "Is there still any need for Neville to have been Memory
Charmed?" – has canon effectively established an appropriate (if
slightly unsatisfying) route around it, simply by refusing to
consider the possibility at all in OoP?

I half want to put this one up in TBAY, but I'm still a little
scared after my last encounter, and for some reason Yahoo won't let
me into the Memory Charm Symposium today. On that topic, however,
I'd like to offer my condolences to the crew of the Fourth Man
kayak, as I think there was a bit of cheating going on there. Sirius
didn't say "The Lestranges – they're a married couple and a
brother", now, did he? Although I think she's safely answered why
Bellatrix didn't get to have a maiden name in that particular quote.

Oh, and one last thing. Rita Skeeter? Not so much a Bang as a small
phht.
