 I'm also new here, and have decided to stop lurking :-)
 OOTP is definately my favourite book in the series so far. But, I,
 like you was a bit dissapointed at how Snape's character was handled.
 But I think that we didn't learn as much as we could have, becuase 
jkr plans on 'tackling' his character more head-on in an upcoming book.
 When you think about it, we still don't know what Dumbledore sent him
 to do at the end of GOblet of Fire, or what he is really doing now.
 Has he been accepted back as a Death Eater, or not? What game is he
 playing?
 And it's a real shame that Snape has been alienated further. He is so
 alone, in the middle of everything by himself. If sharing each 
other's
 memories can't bring the two together, I don't think anything will.
