Responding to Betsey's post (fantastic deconstruction of the
Prophecy), particularly the bit concerning Harry's "heart" as the
unknown power. However, I've deleted the whole thing by accident,
and my server is working at something considerably less than the
speed of light tonight, so I'm not going to quote.
Just thinking: could this in any way be linked to Harry's "saving-
people complex"? That could be thought of as overdeveloped "heart",
if you seperate it from ego. Because, as Malfoy has rather nicely
informed the reader, the Dark Lord already knows about this. And he
also knows there's too much "heart" in Harry to possess him
comfortably. It seems as though he's building up a little list of
things he "knows" - Malfoy again: "The Dark Lord knows you are not
unintell..." (Can't find the page reference just now, but I finished
the Grand Re-read about an hour ago so I think it's fairly
accurate). Admittedly, Voldemort doesn't know that this excess
of "heart" is the key to both their destinies. But as he's aware of
it as a strength/weakness, is there anything to stop him playing on
it again to get to Harry, and thus engaging with the prophesy
unwittingly?
Kirstini, who keeps writing "heart" as she's impressed that JKR
manages not to sop us all out by stressing the importance of love.
Oh...I'm going to bed, before I make even less sense.
