Me:
The Snape was a special case rationale was that Snape never stopped
trying to curse James, and James wasn't going to take that. Pg 671.

Did James stir Snape up to do that? Certainly, but I agree, James did
have to defend himself. Perhaps if he'd have let Snape get him, this
would all be over now, but I somehow doubt that.

what Lupin and Black said about his having deflated his head a bit
and stopped hexing people just for the fun of it. To me it looks
like something happened to make him quit acting like he owned the
school. Something to do with the Prank perhaps. Maybe Dumbledore
realized it was time to warn him about his behavior or something and
from then on, he restricted himself to beating on Snape in private.

Me:

Huh? Did Book 6 come out and I missed it? We don't know why James
backed off and got his head deflated. Lily telling him off surely had
something to do with it, and realizing what Sirius had done with the
prank was something else.

And does it really track that James forced Lily to marry him? That
the pictures of the happy people Harry has in his photo album was
essentially a prolonged rape? Or the sacrifice JAMES made when V-Mort
showed up at the door, "Run, Lily, I'll hold him off" was for a woman
he cared so little for as to force her to marry him?

Sheesh, I'm glad to see the hate for James isn't getting out of hand
or anything.
