Oh, this was the scene that got me. Even the later stuff didn't
scare me as much as this one. I think JKR writing as a mother
touched on some of the most powerful stuff that she's ever done.
The absolute paralysis of Molly as she saw her greatest fears played
out - the death of her children and husband - was incredible. I had
to take a break from the book at the end of that chapter, I was so
emotionally washed out.
I disagree with the poster who said all Molly does is cook, clean and
shout at her children. The Weasleys have moved en mass from their
lovely home to be the support team for the OotP. Sirius (or Lupin?!)
mentions that Molly wasn't part of OotP last time, and so doesn't
understand that they are in a much better position than before.
However, she is there now and the tension is palpable from the moment
Harry enters the house. She is the mother of the group and as such
worries for the safety of all of them; so her overwraught, exhausted
frame of mind contributes to her inability to control the boggart
when it becomes her worst fears.
Yet another example of JKR's great theme of 'Love being a weakness
and strength'.
