OOP: Narcissa

Was anybody else disappointed and/or surprised that Narcissa seems to 
be clearly as corrupt as her husband and son?  I suppose in the back 
of my mind I'm still trying to determine why Dobby would have 
approached Harry to begin with in CoS.  I believe there have been 
posts about this conundrum in the past - i.e. the logistics of a 
house-elf disobeying their master in such a manner.  It always seemed 
unlikely that a house-elf (esp. one from such a strict ancient 
family) would take that sort of risk without at least a little 
backing from someone.  But obviously I was mistaken.  It's a shame.  
I almost wanted Narcissa to be good so Draco would at least have a 
fighting chance of choosing a different path.
