I don't know- think of someone like Tony Soprano.  He kills people 
willy nilly and steals lots of stuff, but he still does nice things 
for the people he cares about.  Narcissa my be part of the dark side, 
but she'd probably be devastated if something happened to Draco.  
Draco, after all, seems like he's been doted on by someone, and it 
probably wasn't Lucius.  

Also, the house-elf probably is the one who does all the slaving.
