Something just occurred to me. I thought Snape's attitude in that scene was
distinctly... odd. He didn't seem very angry with Harry. That really threw
me because I would have thought he'd still be furious. I could only think
that either his opinion of Harry had gone up or his opinion of Draco had
gone down. However, as a spy, he would have had to continue acting the same
towards both boys lest it get back to Voldemort that he was being nice to
the Boy Who Lived. But what if his cover had already been blown? Might have
been the Occlumency lessons or something else, I don't know, but it would
explain the surge of hatred rather nicely, given what happened when
Dumbledore looked at Harry before activating the portkey sending Harry and
the Weasleys to Sirius' house (pg 474, OOP US hardcover). I don't know if it
holds water, especially since we already have the nice explanation that
Harry blames Snape for Black's death, but I think it would be interesting to
look into.
