Requisite spoiler juggling act










1.  Why wasn't (hem,hem) Umbridge arrested after she tried to sneak 
out of Hogwarts?  She was going to use the Cruciatus curse on Harry--
isn't that an automatic prison sentence?  I understand why 
Dumbledore rescued her from the centaurs--Hermione was not looking 
for them to murder Umbridge, only scare her.  Why wasn't she 
immediately sent away?  Plot hole?  I agree with whomever said (and 
I'm sorry I cannot recall who it was, there are so many posts) that 
Umbridge probably is an LV supporter.
  

2.  When Harry unwrapped the mirror and read the message on the 
back, I thought that his reaction would have been one of extreme 
self-loathing.  Why hadn't he at least opened the gift before, he 
could have used it to see if Sirius *was* in danger, he wouldn't 
have had to use the floo powder to try to talk to him.  He simply 
smashes it (note how he saves the pieces) and is angry that it will 
not work.  Why does he assume that Sirius doesn't have it?  Would it 
work if Sirius were dead?
