I found a Flint...I found a Flint!

Granted, I haven't read every single one of these posts here (they just keep 
coming, and coming, and coming...) so I don't know if this has been pointed 
out before.

In the very first chapter of OoP, Harry hears a cracking sound: "Harry was 
sure that the cracking had been made by someone Apparating of Disapparating. 
  It was exactly the sound Dobby made when he vanished in thin air" (OoP 
p.7, US hardcover)

And indeed, you read in CoS, when Dobby Disapparates, it does make a 
cracking sound:

"With a crack like a whip Dobby vanished." (CoS, page 19 US hardcover)

"With a final loud crack Dobby disappeared." (CoS, page 339)

But it turns out that it was Mundungus: "'I'm going, I'm going!' And with 
another loud crack, he vanished."  (OoP, page 23,  US hardcover)

In later chapters, when Fred and George Dis/apparate, the same cracking 
sound is made.

But in previous books, that's not the sound Dis/apparation makes:

"Bagman swore loudly.  'Damn them," he said looking quite distracted, and 
without another word, he Disapparated with a small pop." (GoF chapter 9 p. 
114 UK softcover)

"...a series of popping noises announced the arrival of 20 wizards, 
appearing from thin air, surrounding them." (p.116 UK softcover)

Cracks versus Pops....looks like a Flint to me!
