A while ago, before we were all engrossed with book 5, I posted one
of my pet theories, "The Trio in Balance" (message 60543).
Here I said that I thought, Ron and Hermione would play a much
larger role in _Order of the Phoenix_, thus balancing the Trio. (My
post was too long for me to go into it now.) Anyway, Brief Chronicles
summed up my post best with, "Basically, from what I gathered from
your analysis, you have looked at the climactic scenes of the four
books and found that:
SS = HRH
CoS = R+Harry
PoA = Herm+Harry
GoF = Harry"
Though OoP wasn't specifically R+H, as I suggested it *could* be,
it did give the balance that was the crux of my post. It kept a
balance, but it did it in a wonderfully new way.
She introduced us to Trio#2 (Luna, Ginny, and Neville). Here she
keeps *another* balance. While the Trio is made of two guys and a
girl, Trio#2 is two girls and a guy. Trio#2 also seems closer to each
other than they are with the Trio-although all 6 members of their
respecitive Trios are close. Mostly through Ginny, who connects
Neville and Luna, Trio#2 appears very close, albeit not as close as
the Trio. Trio#2 also gives us an age gap-Ginny and Luna : Neville-
and a House gap-Ginny and Neville : Luna. Back to their genders,
though. We see *the* Trio and Trio#2 connecting, right? Well, as many
of you SHIPers have pointed out, this works out perfectly. The only
two who can't go together are Ginny and Ron, which leaves a wide
range of possibilites--that is if Harry ( or Neville? ::g:: ) has
time to worry with romance while saving the world.
Luna, Ginny, and Neville played very important roles, as did, of
course, the original Trio. Instead of R+H working to help Harry, it
was Ron, Hermione, Luna, Ginny, and esp. Neville. JKR managed to keep
a balance. While keeping Harry her main character, she managed to
weave other characters into her tale.
Let's review, ok?
Here's Brief Chronicles wonderful little chart again:
SS = HRH
CoS = R+Harry
PoA = Herm+Harry
GoF = Harry
...but now, we can add...
OoP = primarily the Trio (starring Harry) + Trio#2 (starring Neville)
So what next? Another book with *just* Harry as it's main point? I
doubt it. Though I'm sure Harry will continue to be the overall main
character (hence the name of the series), I think and hope that
others will show up more. Perhaps, to keep the Trio(s) balanced,
she'll do book 6 featuring R+H and book 7 Harry and Neville (thus
includeing Trio#2). I suppose we'll have to see, but 2 Trio's are
much harder to balance than one!
