OOP: What impressed and disappointed me

Where do I start:

Let me say that I think JK is brilliant. How many of us had guessed
the passing comment from Dumbledore regarding the room full of
chamber pots would be significant in book 5?

And, the amount of grey areas (things that have been raised and
discussed ad infinitum) that are Canonised in Book 5 just in passing

Did Snape realy want to be DADA teacher or was it
just student rumour? He says he *has* applied for the job.

Will Dumbledore die and return as a Ghost? Probably
not, as he doesn't *not* want to die

Is Mrs Figg a witch? No, she's a squibb

Is Dudley really a wizard without knowing? Not unless it
is without the Ministry knowing, Harry is in trouble for
performing magic in front of a Muggle.

Would the new DADA teacher be Mrs Figg or Fleur? Mrs Figg -
no, to squibby; Fleur - no, she had a job at gringotts.

And even stupid ones like - Crookshanks could be Mrs Weasley.
(Yes, I know it was obvious before book 5)
They appear together in the same scene at Grimmauld Place.

   The list goes on...

And the humour:

Dumbledore saying to Fudge - 'Well - it's just that you seem to be
labouring under the delusion that I am going to - what is the
phrase? - come quietly.'

Trelawney's prediction regarding Harry, that "Harry was not going
to suffer an early death after all, but would live to a ripe old age,
become Minister for Magic and have twelve children."

Professor McGonagall walking right past Peeves, who was
determinedly loosening a crystal chandelier, and could have sworn he
heard her tell the poltergeist out of the corner of her mouth, 'It
unscrews the other way.'

Umbridge's ban on the Quibbler ensuring everyone read it, and the
Teacher's treatment of Harry.

And Hermione's elf hats :-) Dobby (and maybe Winky) being the only
elf to be benefitting from all her hard work.

Now some things that ticked me off:

Cho: why didn't Harry reconcile with her in the end? What was her
part in Book 5 anyway? Will she play a bigger roll in book 6, because
other than adding to Harry's emotional rollercoaster she didn't add
to the story

Percy: Why didn't we see his reaction to the reality of
Voldemort's return, and see him either eat humble pie or continue in
denial

OWLS: Why do we have to wait till book 6 to see how they went in
their OWLS

Luna: A little to wacky to be introduced at this stage in the
story and not play a more significant roll - I felt she needed to
have more to offer

Umbridge: She survived! Uninjured! So, her pride was stepped on,
but I was hoping that her person would have at least suffered a
little under the hooves of the centaurs. I couldn't believe that
after the detention punishment she dished out that she didn't at
least get a few scars of her own.

Sturgis: If he was under Malfoy's control when he broke in to the
ministry, surely he now doesn't deserve Azkaban - has he been
released?

So... Please feel free to disagree, like's and dislikes are a
personal thing, but I just wanted to start a thread that was less
about the specifics of the book, and more about what people enjoyed
or didn't enjoy - A Critique

Cheers
