Although....
..............I doubt.........
.........................there's anyone..........
................................who hasn't finished..........
........................................the book yet................
Hello all, this is my first post now that i know my e-mail no longer
bounces. I am starry765, and please forgive me for not giving any
info about myslef, but Ienjoy my annonymity. I read all first 4
books about a year and a half ago and loved them immediately, and I
would also like to say (......shameless sucking up......) that I also
really like the Lexicon. So kudos, Steve.
First of all, I enjoyed the book, and while a lot was answered, I
still have some questions. But I want to comment on the romances as
that hasn't been touched on lately.....
I am not any kind of a shipper, but I will say that I did not like
the Harry/Cho thing and I'm glad it appears to be over. Cho came
across as selfish and annoying. And while Ginny appears to have
moved on as well, I didn't get a lot of Ron/Hermione in this book
other than the usual fights that they've always had. But I did
notice that Hermione seemed to cling to, or turn to, Harry a lot.
She would cling to his arm or grab onto him whenever she was nervous
or scared, even if Ron was around, and a few times, Harry would push
her out of the way or try to protect her (such as when they were
smashing the Prophecies) even though Luna, Ginny, Ron and Neville
were in danger, too. I'm not saying that JKR is setting up Harry and
Hermione, but it looks a bit that way..... (and yes, I know that
Hermione kissed Ron on the cheek before he played in his first
Quidditch match, interpret that as you'd like....) I might be moving
toward a Ron/Luna thing, though.
Now, about another thing that I have questions about, and this
concerns Snape. Snape is not one of my favourite characters (Lupin
is my favourite, followed by Ron and McGonagall) but he intriques me
the most. I always thought he and Narcissa Malfoy might be siblings,
but apparently not (didn't see the thing coming that she was Sirius'
cousin!) But as I'm sure you know (as I read it on your Fantasitc
Posts site), Snape's full name is an anagram for Perseus Evans, which
is Lily's maiden name. Anyone thing this may still come into play?
I know we saw Snape's parents, and his father was described as hook-
nosed (thus resembling him) but there may be a dynamic we don't know
yet. I was disappointed this wasn't mentioned here.
Also, I have to say the Prophecy didn't surprise me, although I was
expecting Harry's father to have something to do with it. He still
may, as it wasn't explained how Vol knew to go for Harry, not
Neville. And Figg was a Squib, I didn't expect that (although she
might be the one JKR has said will do magic under extraordinary
cercumstances). But the biggest surprise for me in the entire book?
The return of Gilderoy Lockhart. Priceless. Wonder if she tacked
that on, or if it was in her original plan.
