Everyone here has made good points.I want Sirius to not be dead too,
just somewhere in the netherworld looking for a way back. But on
page 825 (American version) Dumbledore says "It is my fault that
Sirius died", meaning to me that Sirius is really dead.I assume that
Dumbledore is the most skillful and knowledgable wizard in
existance. If there were a way for Sirius to survive his demise,
wouldn't Dumbledore have mentioned that to Harry, to give him some
hope and ease his broken heart especially at a time when he was
trying to be truthful and tell Harry everything? Too me, this room
with the veil looks like the wizarding world's version of an
execution chamber. Hagrid also says to Harry that "Sirius died in
battle, and thats the way he would have wanted to go". I dunno. It
would have been easier to hope that Sirius could come back if
Dumbledore and Hagrid had not refered to him as dead, or if it was
stated that this veil was a portal to another dimension. But they
didn't.
